Do you often find yourself having to make long journeys, during which you would like to pass the time by “enjoying” some YouTube videos on your iPhone, but are you afraid of exceeding the monthly limit of your Internet subscription? If that’s the case, you might consider downloading the videos locally, then to the phone’s memory, and watch them calmly when you’re offline.

I know, you don’t want to connect your “iPhone by” to your computer and pass the videos you download from YouTube from one device to another. And in fact, today I want to talk to you about some solutions that can be used directly from iOS that allow you to archive movies on the go, without having to use a PC. They are very easy to use, even by the less experienced in new technologies.

Then? What would you say to finally put the gossip aside and go and discover, with me, how to download videos from YouTube on iPhone? Yup? Great! Position yourself, therefore, nice and comfortable, take a few free minutes just for you and concentrate on reading what is reported below. I am more than sure that, in the end, you will be able to say that you are very happy and satisfied, both with what you have learned and, obviously, that you have achieved your goal.

How can you download YouTube videos on iPhone

The first solution that I would like to recommend to download videos from YouTube on iPhone is the one officially proposed by Google: YouTube Premium .

If you don’t know, it is a subscription service (the subscription costs 11.99 euros / month with 1 month of free trial, but there is also a family subscription that can be used by up to 6 people at a cost of 17.99 euro / month) which allows you to download the videos present on the well-known platform offline and keep them for 30 days. It also allows you to remove ads from movies, access exclusive YouTube Originals content and take advantage of YouTube Music , the Google home music streaming service.

To be able to use YouTube Premium for your purpose, download and install the YouTue app on your iPhone (if you have not already done so, of course), by visiting the relevant section of the App Store , pressing the Get button , then on that Install and authorizing the download via Face ID , Touch ID or Apple ID password .

Then, start the app, selecting the relative icon that has been added to the home screen and / or to the iOS App Library and, once the main YouTube screen is displayed, log in to your Google account , by tapping on the symbol of man located at the top right and providing the required credentials.

Once logged in, if you have not yet activated your YouTube Premium subscription, touch your photo located at the top right, choose the item Switch to YouTube Premium in the menu that appears, select the appropriate item on the next screen and follow the instructions visible on the screen, proceeding as I explained in detail in my post on how to get YouTube Premium for free .

At this point, you can finally do your utmost to download the videos of your interest. To do this, locate the video you want to download, select it and tap the Download button located under the player. Next, indicate the quality for the download from the menu that opens and tap the OK button .

Then wait for the download to complete, after which you will see a specific notification appear in the lower right part of the display. You can then access the video by going to the Collection section of the app, touching the word Download from the new screen displayed and selecting the relevant title.

Alternative Solutions

As an alternative to the solution officially provided by Google or in any case if you want to be able to download videos from YouTube without spending even a penny, you can consider resorting to the use of third-party solutions that I will report to you below. They are all very efficient and easy to use.

Have you ever heard of the iOS Commands app? No? Well, no problem… let’s fix it now! It is a very powerful application owned by Apple that allows you to run scripts similar to those you can create and run with Automator on Mac.

Or You can find some site like https://youtubetomp3.sc/ or https://goytd.com/ where you can easily download any video from youtube and save it on your iPhone. Such sites are usually free and reliable and help us especially when we need to download any video on our iPhone for example when we are going on a long journey where we may lose or have a bad internet connection. So downloading your favourite video on phone is a batter idea. 😉
